I believe it was Mandelbrot who forgot to warn us of the Africanized bee-swarming, black cloud-ish shit storm where inanimate objects all collude to fuck with us when they're bored. It's called the asshole fractal.

A person who is an asshole at any distance. When you get closer and closer to them there's just more asshole. Likewise, as you get further away from them they are still an asshole.

Evan was such a fractal asshole to the girls in his first year at Lewis & Clark, that they all made sure to tell their friends and the incoming freshmen not to sleep with him.
