Shiela WOULD be hot if she didn't have that lazy eye and overly hairy arms. Sheila is an almost girl.

An almost girl is the one who gets close—but never quite gets chosen.

She’s the maybe.
The if things were different.
The late-night talks, inside jokes, emotional intimacy… without the commitment that should’ve come with it.

She’s the girl someone leans on, confides in, flirts with, imagines a future with—but never actually steps into that future with.
Not because she wasn’t enough, but because the other person wasn’t willing, ready, or brave.

An almost girl lives in the in-between:
• too important to lose
• not important enough to claim

She wasn’t heartbroken because she’d lost him — she was heartbroken because she’d been an almost girl, close enough to matter, but never enough to be chosen.

Almost-Girlfriend 

Someone you are seeing for awhile, and even though you get introduced to her friends and family and spent valentine's day weekend with her in scenic cabin out somewhere, she still won't be referred to as "girlfriend". There can be almost-boyfriends, too, I suppose.

Yesterday I went to the wedding of my almost-girlfriend's cousin and her mother asked me if my knee is doing better.
