emo is actually just a genre

if a kid gets a flippy haircut and tight pants and some converse and slits their wrists and enjoys listening to fueled by ramen bands in the dark then ok then! give that kid a gold star cuz he has a wacked up brain.

speaking of star they are probaly jefree star fans and "support" his existence

now isnt that poser-ific?
sad kid 1: im emo
sad kid 2: im emo too. my pants are tight
sad kid 3: my pants are tighter, i can barely breathe, i think i might die from lack of air

Emo

To me, emo is a word used inappropriately too much these days.
Everyone has their own definition on emo, but really emo can mean alot of different things.
Emo - A kind of music that originated from Hardcore Punk.

But what i think an emo PERSON is, it is someone who is emotional, someone who is emotional about what is happening and what they do, they are a person, not a creature from outta space. They use very touching and "emotional" words, and they care.
Emo, does not mean "wrist cutter" a wrist cutter is someone with problems, someone who has to figure out their life.
Most people judge others they have never met, rather it be they see them in the city or at school if they wear wrist bands, have a side fringe with black hair and they wear lots of black and make up they instantly think "Whoa look at that sad emo!" then go and tell their friends, without even knowing the person.
I know alot of people that dress like the above and they are the happiest people ever and i can not imagine them slitting their wrists to "hawthorn heights" or "Dashboard confessional", It's all just a big label.

If you wanna know what emo is, its basecly a word used too much to describe people that other people have never met.
Judgmental person: "OH MY GOD!!! LOOK AT THAT EMO OVER THERE!!!"
Judgmental persons friend: "Do you even know them?"
Judgmental person: "No"
Judgmental persons friend: "Then how do u know their lifestyle?"
Judgmental person: "I don't"
Judgmental persons friend: "Then why did you call them emo?"
Judgmental person: "Because they are"
Judgmental persons friend: "Do you even know what emo exactly is?"
Judgmental person: "...No..."

emo

Heres what I think -
Emos arn't depressing sad little wussies with no friends. We arn't fakes. We are humans. In fact the emos I know are perfectly happy, good friends. we wear black clothes, does that make us sad little wussies? Well I don't think so. Too many people hate emos without knowing what they are.
Emos sometimes get sad but then, everyone gets sad. That doesn't make us more sad than you

Emo

Ok, I really want to get this straight. The ORIGINAL definition of "emo" can be broken down like this:

"Emo" is short for "emotive hardcore," or "emotional harcore." The word "hardcore" is referring to hardcore punk music. Emo is a form of hardcore punk music, although after different "waves" of emo coming and going through the years, there are still some bands that differ from the original emo music that can still be defined as emo.

NOW-
the word "emo" is being used to describe the current sub-culture of the supposed genre of music that is emo, although this current subculture is often found not to listen to real emo music. It is actually true that the original subculture of emo looked completely different from what our perception is now.

Just because somebody dresses or looks "emo" doesn't mean that they cut themselves and act sad all the time. And if they do, it's not always necessarily to get attention. Depression is a real thing and should be taken seriously.

"Emo" kids should be given the same respect that is given to any other kind of person, because we are all people and deserve equal treatment, regardless of how we look and what music we listen to.

Emo

Here's a REAL, NON-STEREOTYPED definition of the word "Emo".

What is emo? Most people view emo as a type of person. Someone who cuts themselves, hates the world, and wears tight clothing. Others view emo as a genre of music including bands such as Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At the Disco. Most people use emo to describe what is really called scene.

What does the word emo mean? Most people believe emo is short for emotional, as in an emotional person or emotional music. Others believe it’s short for emotional hardcore.

Emo cannot mean emotional because then everything would be emo. Everything has emotions- all music, all people. Emo would become an all-encompassing, very vague, word that could be used to describe many things.

The term emo is short for emotive hardcore. It was first used by the members of Rites of Spring in a 1985 interview in Flipside Magazine. Emo is not popular, and there are no mainstream emo bands. You will not hear emo on the radio.

Hopefully this will set everybody straight. **Source!: www.emotivehardcore.com**
