Nerd Surfing

Nerd Surfing is when someone (not necessarily a nerd) is surfing the internet, opening numerous, (generally informative) web pages. This includes sites such as Wikipedia. The essence behind nerd surfing is when the person sees a link(s) on one page, he/she opens the link 'in a new tab' or 'in a new window' and repeatedly does so until a chain of informative web pages are open all at once. This can often lead to a bizarre number of tabs being open, and can often create somewhat of a snowball effect.

Nerd Surfing is NOT when someone imitates surfing over a pile of upset nerds.

A - "What's that guy doing?"
B - "Oh, he's just nerd surfing the ScienceDaily.com"
A - "Dude...he has SO many tabs open!"
B - "I know right! That's some proper nerd surfing!"

Data Nerding

The act of analyzing data in great detail. When you spend hours working on excel or other stats programs trying to 1) figure out data and 2) analyze it. This often occurs while in college, fantasy football, and in careers that focus on research and analysis. On big problems, Data Nerding can go on for days.

Damn, I may never figure out what quarterback to draft for fantasy football. Looks like it's time to pull out excel and get to data nerding so I can decide on who to pick.

Orchestra Nerd

A person who plays on an orchestra, typically a string orchestra, and typically a school one at that. They must enjoy it to the point where they cannot imagine life without it.

They tend to be friends with other Orchestra Nerds, but are not limited to that, often including other groups, such as Band Geeks, Choir Queers, Musical Nerds, School Nerds, or Geeks. Please note that these categories may overlap, as well as others which may not have been mentioned.

Arianna: I'm an Orchestra Nerd and a Dungeons and Dragons Geek. This is Andrew, he's a Band Geek. This here is Joe, he's an Orchestra Nerd and a School Nerd. Marcus is an Orchestra Nerd and a Musical Nerd, and Nate is a Video Game Geek.

Personal Nerd

Personal Nerd is a combination of tutor and personal assistant. It is a recent and rapidly growing addition to shadow education. Personal Nerds provide supplementary assistance outside of mainstream education system. Unlike tutors that are provided for a student wants to study at home or is struggling in a subject, Personal Nerds are hired to assist in managing workload, check completed works and give feedback to facilitate quick and efficient learning.
