The Ring

The Ring was forged in Mt. Doom where it belong to the evil lord Sauron.

After he was defeated, the Ring went to Isiludur who was tempted by it and did not destroy the precious ring.

After Isiludur was killed, the ring lay dormant with 2,500 years. When suddenly it went to Smegol, an innocent hobbit who wasn't all quite right in the head. Because of his condition, he immediately felt the presnece of the ring and killed his brother for it. The ring poisioned Smegol's mind bringing out Gollum.

After 500 years of killing Smegol and strengthening Gollum, the ring lost grasp and went to Bilbo Bagins.

And after 60 years, the ring slowly worked it's way into Bilbo's mind and he prepared a journey to Mordor to give back the precious ring. Untill his old friend, Gandalf the Grey stopped him.

As fate would have it, Bilbo's newphew Frodo picked up the ring and it was him and him alone that could possess such a powerful thing.

Because of that he went on a quest to destroy it with his best friend Sam and a fellowship of Hobbits, Men, Wizards, Elves and Dwarfs!

Grad ring

A very flexible term for a frat boy, a group of them, or their mental outlook on life. Derives from the cold hard fact that no one other than an asshole would buy or wear a grad ring. Therefore, by a clever trick of logic you can safely assume any frat boy you meet owns a grad ring.
Did you see the size of that guy's grad ring?! (accusatory)

John got drunk and went all grad ring on us.

When the grad rings arrived at the party, we knew it was time to jam out.

ring the post

v. In ice hockey, it means to barely miss a goal when a shot eludes the goaltender, yet deflects back into play after hitting either the left or right goalpost. A hard rubber puck shot at high velocity makes a "ringing" sound, much like that of a bell, when it hits the metal goalpost, thus "ring(ing) the post." You can also "ring the crossbar" if a rising shot hits the top bar connecting the goalposts. The goaltender is considered very lucky if he is bailed out by such an event.
Wisconsin would have beat Minnesota by an even greater margin if they didn't ring the post five times. Man their goalie is a great big sieve.
