Investment Play

An investment play is a bet made by a sharp better. Capital is released on a team where the outcome is almost guaranteed a winner. The better is sharp, almost always fades the public and studies analytics.
My buddy was going to bet the Michigan vs Iowa game today. He is a very square-better so I asked him if he would like an investment play instead.

play the banjo with

To play the banjo with someone; to try to make friends with someone who isn't going to be friends or who keeps dodgy company, typically rough, bigoted or violent. From the banjo duet in John Boorman's "Deliverance".
Although they had been making funny noises at me across the square, I just had to play the banjo with those guys. I regretted it within the week.

Play the duck

• Pretending to be oblivious;
Dont play the duck when you're a goose, silly!
(Like when you know that they know that you know they're lying but they duck the truth looking like a silly goose).

• It can walk like a duck, it can talk like a duck- but it's still a fucking goose.
(You're not even fooling you, silly goose).

• Duck the pigs, you silly goose.
(Got birds in the back, trying not to quack).

Something she would say: "You dont have to play the duck around me, I'm pretty chill".
