2. Something (music, media, movie, person, etc.) Liked only by a few people and disliked by everyone else. Specifically, you either like it or you hate it. there is no in-between.

Having a quality where fans find it extremely exciting to share their deep connection to the object of appeal with each other. It's possible for something with cult appeal to spread to the mainstream as long as there still is a strong contingent of fans that exhibit almost a cultlike zeal for the object of appeal.
