A prog-metal band hailing from the New York area, have been around for almost 20 years. A band that a lot of people would not like if they heard them. Most of their songs are over 10 minutes long, over the top musicianship, long jams, nothing that could possibly reach the mainstream audience in this day and age. However, they have a large cult follwoing all over the world for those who can tolerate this kind of music, myself included. Influenced by prog acts like Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson, with the crushing metal of Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath, Dream theater has forged a sound that has brought them to the top of progressive music and are the true definition of prog-metal. If you're into prog music and enjoy metal, give Dream Theater a listen and perhaps you will join the cult.

Firesign Theater

Comedy group from the late 60's/early 70's who made such classic albums as "Don't Crush that Dwarf, Hand me the Pliers" and "All Hail Lennon and Marx"
(with photos of John Lennon and Groucho Marx on the cover). Off-the-wall; very drug inspired and fun to listen to while doing drugs. College kids from that era still quote them to this day; i.e. "United Snakes of America", "Don't eat with your hands, use your entrenching tools." Most fun when listening with Koss headphones.

Let's get fucked up and listen to Firesign Theater in my dorm room.

theatre nerd

A theatre nerd is a person who is highly invested in musicals, sometimes to the extent that it’s an addiction. Theatre nerds are usually in all of the drama-related clubs at their school.
You may be a theatre nerd if you have any of the following symptoms:
• You sing showtunes Non-Stop
• You understood the reference above
• Tap dancing is not an uncommon occurrence for you
• You have overdramatic reactions to everything
• You will change in front of anyone
• Alexander Hamilton was not just a Founding Father to you
• Anything anyone says can trigger a song getting stuck in your head
• You unconsciously switch accents while talking

Theatre nerds are part of a a big, cozy community of people who are probably a bit too affectionate with each other at times, quote Shakespeare regularly, are very, VERY loud, and sometimes act like a cult.

Example 1
Kid 1: Look at those kids over there singing. What the heck are they doing?
Kid 2: Oh, those are just the theatre nerds. Don’t mind them.

Example 2
Kid 1: Omg have you heard the OBC recording of Be More Chill?
Kid 2: Yes, it’s so great! I need to see that!
Kid 1: Ahhh bring me with you!
Kid 2: I totally will! Wow we are huge theatre nerds.
