a poser can be someone who tries to fit in faking an interest in something, usually a specific fandom or trend.

poser: Man, JoJo's Bizzarre Adventures is a great and fun anime, don't you think so?
guy: Oh bro, totally! Did you watch Battle Tendency yet?
poser: Pfft, yeah, I watched it all last night
guy: Then let's party, dude! I brought tequila~
poser: *is confused* You know I don't drink, right-?
guy: ...You're a poser, aren't you.

It combines "brain" with "poser," immediately signaling someone who's faking intelligence. it is direct and a little bit playful, highlighting the act of "posing" as intelligent.

"He spent twenty minutes using all sorts of fancy jargon, but it was clear he was just a brain-poser trying to impress the boss."

"Don't listen to her; she's a total brain-poser who just repeats things she hears online without understanding them."

Poser

Someone who thinks they're making a major statement or changing the world every time they do something an asshole would do, like it's their first time being that way and they have to do/outdo more to prove they are an asshole to other assholes than everybody else.

The poser thought everything he/she said that an asshole would say needed to end up as a quote online somewhere, otherwise people would remember what he/she was like growing up.

Extreme poser

Someone who always tries to kick somebody out of somewhere or something (or get them kicked out) and look badass while doing it.

The mall cop rolled up his/her sleeves so that he/she could show off his her tattoos (and power) to everybody in the group, and told them they must have a death wish by being there at the mall, since nobody was allowed in his/her mall after 5 PM. The extreme poser got off on kicking people out of public places.

Poser

Someone who acts like they're from Baltimore even though they're from outside Harrisburg. Someone who has not only a thousand different screen names or online profiles, but also has fictional hometowns or current locations, fictional lives to go with them. A poser tries to outdo other people at silliness while trying to get taken more seriously than everyone else.

The poser was always this and that, always under somebody else's skin to make himself/herself look/feel more authentic. The poser wanted an authentic image.
