A military punishment where the punished must dig a hole in the ground large enough to stand in, and then must guard the hole by standing in the hole and covering self and hole with a large wooden box.

To shun, banish, excommunicate, fire, or otherwise remove a person from a situation. From the (new) Battlestar Galactica series.

According to the Battlestar Wiki - "To box a Cylon is to download a particular humanoid Cylon's consciousness from his or her body into cold storage indefinitely...". This has the effect of eliminating all copies of that Cylon model.
