The term yard sale is term that originated from snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding. The term is used to describe a massive wipeout in which the skier or snowboarder loses some articles of their clothing or even their poles, skis, or board. It is called a yard sale because after the wipeout, all the person’s clothing are laid out in the snow like they are on display in a yard sale.
