Similar to burning a candle on both ends, when you get close to the center and things have a lot of potential to go wrong, you have to choose which end to blow

I was hitting on these two third-year law students all night, so when the bar was closing and I realized they were friends, I thought "Shit, you just slut yourself into a corner and might go home alone."
