A familial statist can either be the older relative who controls their children at an unreasonable level, clips their wings, and stunts their growth for selfish purposes... or the younger relative who refuses to grow up and get their life in order on their own merits. You could sponge off any one of your relatives, or vice versa — be an enabler, and be considered a familial statist.
