"Refusal of Satire" in Latin
The act of refusing a joke despite the OP making it clear that the "joke" was indeed a joke. This word can be associated with "Joke Police" as they are typically the ones who experience recusatio saytra.

This action tends to happen when the joke was offensive/inappropriate and the person undergoing recustatio satyra

acts as if they have more/better morals.

This often happens on social media (e.g, Twitter) when one makes an overly offensive joke and people pile on that individual for the offensive joke.

For example: On August 3rd, 2022, a Twitter user posted a clip of Genshin Impact Voice Actor Sean Chiplock saying he would "smash" Sayu, a loli character within the game. One second later in the clip, Chiplock says "just for everyone who was recording." This signifies that he knows the clip will be taken out of context and joked on by the Genshin fanbase. Despite this, many people called Chiplock a "pedophile."

Context for joke: A common assumption for Genshin Impact players is that they're sex offenders. This is enhanced by nearly half of the Genshin Impact characters being below the age of 18 and/or looking below the age of 13.

Person A: "Smash or Pass: Sayu"
Chiplock: "Smash!"
Chiplock: "Just for everyone who was recording!"
Person B: "She looks 8 years old! You're a pedophile!"
Person C: "He literally made it clear that it was a joke. How are you undergoing recusatio satyra?"
B: "WTF is a recusatio satyra? Are you defending pedophillia?"

reputation abyss

The point where someone's reputation is tarnished for good. Similar to the event horizon of a black hole (once it's crossed, nothing can escape the hole's gravitational pull, not even light itself), it is no longer possible for someone past the abyss to restore their reputation. If they try to, they will be shunned, ignored, or otherwise prevented from succeeding. If they do manage to restore their reputation, that means they never actually crossed it in the first place.

I think O.J. Simpson crossed the reputation abyss when he was suspected of murdering his wife and her friend. Despite his acquittal, his reputation was irreparably damaged.

You want to know the difference between "reputation" and "status?"

Hym "Reputation is people's willingness to lie for you. Status is commensurate with your deeds. See, you can have a high level of status but that might not motivate people to lie for you and may even incentivize lying ABOUT you. Without the reputation (how you are regarded by a certain team) of being on a certain team, they don't know whether or not you're willing to lie FOR THEM. So, the religion. The politics. It's all just to decide who's going to lie for who and when. And that's what we are seeing here. They can figure out who is going to lie for them or not so they are trying to drag this out as long as possible. I'm just going to kill a kid ifbthey don't take about the surveillance I'm under and credit and pay me for AI. That IS going to happen. And if I die before then, someone else can always do it in my name after you screw THEM. Which you will. Because your refuse to stop trying to screw people. So, I don't need to be alive to harm you for doing this. The only way other people can guarantee that they themselves aren't on the other end of it is to prevent it from happening to me."
