Similar to the 15 pounds gained in freshman year, the freelance 15 is a similar phenomenon known to occur when someone leaves a regular 9-5 career in favor of going freelance. You eat more, sleep more and generally are less active as you no longer expel the energy to get to and from work everyday.

Self-aggrandizing term self-given by someone who can't get anyone to pay them for their prose on a consistent basis. Willing to stoop to bald-faced contrarianism for clicks/views.

"I'm starting to suspect that Ann is less of a "Freelance" Writer and more of a straight up hack. There's just no way she believes in her own bullshit, right? I mean the mental gymnastics she engages in to explain away anything and everything in order to avoid admitting she was perhaps wrong about something once are laughable.
