spotya

Spotya is a "slang" term derived from the act of lending money to somebody in financial trouble. It connotes a short term loan for small amounts---originally $10 or a 10 spot. It evolved into any act of help for another, such as "spotting" a weight lifter with help to ensure he isn't crushed. The term is now virtually universal, even being used by some companies who provide short-term loans such as "spotya".

I'll "spotya" for ten dollars. Hey I'll "spotya" ten bucks. I'll "spotya" a drink." Hey don't worry I'll "spotya".
