Progressive Grunge

A sub-genre of grunge which incorporates both the loud, dirty guitar sounds and simple riffs of the grunge movement with such progressive rock techniques as frequent time signature changes and parts of songs written in 'modes' instead of keys.

It is significantly different from the original grunge movement, in the sense that the pop hooks have been replaced with alternative-pop hooks.

Like Grunge, progressive grunge is considered an underground movement which has recently had a global rise in popularity. Particularly in The US, Australia and Europe.

Unlike Post-Grunge which was condemned by Grunge fans world-wide, progressive grunge has been welcomed whole-heartedly by the flannel wearing community.

Progressive Metal

A form of music that takes a very intelligent person to comprehend and appreciate.
The intelligence is usually shown by the fact that the people that like prog metal can actually spell Dream Theater's name right, as opposed to the people who hate on prog/Dream Theater

Progress Barf

The act of a computer software progress bar (percent complete indicator) that gets stuck at 99% or 100% or even worse wraps back around to 0% and starts all over.

Ted: "Hey Ed, are you ready to go? We're waiting!"

Ed: "Sorry, I went to apply these Adobe and Microsoft software patches and I *thought* they were done but now I am stuck in Progress Barf hell because someone needs to teach those bastards what the definition of 100% complete actually means!!!! This progress bar just keeps wrapping around, not sure why they even bother, it should just show a picture of a dude with a gun to his head going 'click click click'!"

progressive rock

a form of rock developed in the late sixties that incorporates classical and jazz music elements. in the 70's-80's, it became extremely technical with such bands a Dream Theater. Some of the "epics" of progressive rock are over half an hour long. most guitarists who attempt to play these cry at the site of 40 pages of music and sell there instrument on ebay. progressive rock should not be attempted by the "newb" guitarist.

dream theater is progressive rock, a very technical type.
