first of all, there are the fake hipsters.
aka- the girls who have summer "hipster" blogs on tumblr. they think being hipster is wearing high-waisted shorts and wearing crosses on their necks. they still listen to nicki minaj and kesha.
no.
that is not a hipster.
a hipster is someone who simply does not give a fuck.
they appreciate what they want to appreciate.
they dress mostly in sweaters and plaid.
and they listen to bands no one has ever heard of before.

indie hipster

a person who considers themselves to be "indie" or independent, because of the way they dress, the music they listen to, etc., etc. When all the while they are just following already made trends, therefore copying off of one another. They are all alike seeing as they follow the same trends. They think they are all so unique and different, yet they are all basically the same.

hipster dog

A dog that wears hipster style clothes or accessories, such as name brand dog apparel, or scenesteresque bandannas and is own by a member of the "hipster" crowd (see "hipster").

I swear I saw a hipster dog! The dog was decked out in a cardigan and a bandanna. It was crazy, I swear I think I even saw it texting someone.

Piece of limp cloth worn across the chest by women who are considered hippy, granola or dead-heads. Looks suspiciously to have been made by hand and ties with string around the neck and lower back. Offers minimal coverage.

Hipster fight

When mean looks are not enough, hipsters engage in verbal fights, trying to make the other person feel stupid. The most common hipster fight is when someone cuts in front of a hipster at a concert.

I saw this awesome hipster fight at the Wilco show when these girls pushed their way to the front row.

Neo-Hipster

An individual who believes that being a hipster is "too mainstream" and therefore resorts to the act of telling others that they have not participated in some mainstream activity but express their desire too in an attempt to both emphasize the fact that they haven't yet participated and separate themselves from normal hipsters.

Basically taking the hipster philosophy of "I'm so counterculture that I listened to them first" and extending it to "I'm so counterculture that I never listened to them at all"
