"thank spandex" is an expression to be used instead of "thank god". This shouldnt need to be explained because obviously spandex fixes everything and is a solution to almost every problem

A backronym for “tip” or gratuity. Tipping can be seen as a way of thanking a person for good services, so “thanks in pay” works pretty well.

The waiter was friendly and attentive, so I thanked him with a good tip.

Ah, so a tip is a thanks in pay!
