New Jazz

a specific genre of music that fuses some elements of pluggnb such as the soft synths (if there is some in the songs) and a very specific bass growl that you'll instantly recognize if you listen to the genre.

Person 1: My music taste is so underground!
Person 2: I suspect you've listened to some New Jazz then?
Person 1: Yes!

A subgenre of trap and pluggnb known for using weird synths that sound somewhat funky and jazzy, as well as wonkier 808s, more experimental melodies, and more "natural" sounding drums. Not to be confused with Nu Jazz, which is an entirely different genre.

squirrel jazz

A subgenre of jazz music characterized particularly by its playfulness, analogous to the behavior of squirrels. This is reflected in its frivolous instrument and harmony choices.

The song "Marche no Kuroi Kuma" by Gonzales Mikami is a fine instance of squirrel jazz.

Hit Jazz

A type of music or theme song for a character that on paper sounds like it shouldn't fit the character at all, but in execution, wraps back around to working entirely. Mostly by being a really, REALLY good song.

Person1: "Man I love the DBZ Fighterz soundtrack, especially Hit's theme!"

Person2: "The emotionless assassin character with a jazz theme? How does that make sense?"

Person1: "Exactly! It doesn't! But somehow it loops back around to making perfect sense! Who doesn't love a little Hit Jazz?"
