It's used more when you are not used to have many friends or actually don't have any, or when you want to make that friendship to last more, in the first case you won't be able to stop friend-simp because you mostly will feel scared to lose your friendship, not even for a minute.

Friend: "We had a fight yesterday because of her choice to change school next year, (the friend-simp gets annoyed but still listens to him) she told me some bad things and i feel bad rn"
