1. The United States is governed by elected representatives and has no King or Queen so it is a republic.
2. Many conservatives talk about bringing back the "republic" and think the United States is not one because in their fantasy world the word "republic" means government that follows their beliefs.

Reputational laundering

When Betsy DeVos, Mick Mulvaney, and Elaine Chao say they are leaving the Trump Administration because they have principles, but we all know it’s less than two weeks before they would be out of their jobs anyway and they just want to save their social standing and careers in the future. Plus, they have no principles or integrity.

These reputational laundering attempts coming out in the final hours of the Trump White House are fooling no one.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

Formerly Zaire, a central/south-central African country which is neither fully democratic nor a functioning republic. It is, however, located in the general vicinity of the Congo River. Site of the Second Congo War in which more than 5.4 million people were killed, making it the most deadly conflict since World War II.

It may be referred to as DR Congo or DRC to distinguish it from the Republic of the Congo, which is on the other side of the Congo River.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the second poorest country in the world, after Zimbabwe.

Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Congo-Léopoldville, Congo-Kinshasa, and Zaire are all former names of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

republipunk

Generally speaking, a preppy guy or girl who accessorizes with a punk style. This can include piercings such as lip or ear lobe plugs, mohawk hairstyles, band t-shirts, spiked belts, etc... They do this in an effort to look badass and different among their group of friends while still conforming enough to be a part of the "popular" crowd.

Often they will listen to pop-punk bands such as Blink-182, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.

In the end they have little, if any, real credibility with any one who actually knows anything about the history of punk rock, punk ideals, or even punk fashion.

Replay Rose Goggles

Worn by sports douches when they refuse to believe their team/player did something wrong even when video replay CLEARLY showed the flag/call was correct and 5 million viewers with IQ's above a hamster's can easily agree with it.

Referee: "After further video review, the players foot was out of bounds; pass is ruled incomplete."

Sports Douche: "What?! How can that be. He was clearly in bounds. The ref couldn't see the difference between the guys white shoes and the white sideline... That's a bull s#^t call! And why the hell did the coach even call that play...?"

Objective Observer: "Dude, sit the hell down, shut up and take off those Replay Rose Goggles. He was clearly out of bounds. The video replay CLEARLY showed it, you dumbass! It's guys like you that make me want to root against our team..."
