The system is used in some high performance sports cars. Instead of using 4 coil springs, the cars use two single ply (instead of the multiple plys used in trucks/cars with live axles) leaf springs mounted transversely. Using a single ply makes them immune from the friction problems seen in multiple ply systems and also makes them very light (a single transverse leaf spring weighs 1/3 of the weight of the coil springs that could have been used). These cars often use double wishbone or multilink suspensions, just like any other sports car, just not paired with coil springs over the dampers.
Transverse leaf springs have the benefits of being very lightweight, moving more of the cars weight towards the ground, easily adjustable, and rarely (if ever) needing replacement.
They have the disadvantages of being more expensive than coil springs, and since the springs are often made of a lightweight composite material, they are sensitive to damage from harsh chemicals.

Get the springfield mug.This is a little unincorporated hamlet in the Town of Wawarsing, Ulster County. upstate New York. It was once a vital mecca in the Borscht Belt Era of the Catskills. It is 8 miles North of Wurtsboro, NY and 4 miles South of Ellenville, NY. It looks like the town that time forgot. There are approximately 600-800 year -round residents. It used to be the home of Buddy Hackett in the summer. The Homowack Lodge was once the major employer. Today, the towm is comprised of a general story and a post office. Nothing really bad ever happens here. In fact, nothing really happens here. It's just a teeny bed-room community.

Anyone who lives in Springfield can tell you that many of the residents lack two brain cells to rub together. Springfield has been considered one of the worst places to raise a family due to it's unusual high crime rate for a town of it's size.
Typical residents of Springfield are ill tempered, narrow minded and defiantly judgmental of those who don't fit their skewed perception of "normal" which is a bearded redneck the shoots a gun and thumps a bible and has a domineering over weight girl friend that bosses him around.
There has been a long time feud between the lower class, thuggish north side residents and the snobbish, upper class south side residents. Although the south side has less crime and has far better public schools with students that out achieve most of the north side students academically it still seems ridiculous to ethnically divide a town that takes less than 30 minutes to drive from one end of town to the other.
