Armchair Math

When authors of pop math books or e-books try to give their readers a make-believe mathematical experience, by keeping formulas and equations to a minimum, because for the publisher, every additional equation in the book has the potential of halving the sales figures.

Dubbed as “math lite,” armchair math goes some way in helping math-anxious readers appreciate the beauty, ubiquity, and utility of math in real life.

An educator who creates beautiful or elegant math, by mixing and matching ideas from different disciplines to vow their audience—they are neither generalist or specialist, who use creative ways to convey difficult math concepts, or are bewitched to come up with intuitive or elegant solutions to math problems.

If math teachers, editors, and writers thought like a math DJ, the public perception of math being a dull or difficult school subject would be a thing of the past.

Morrow Math

Type of math used when calculating how much an item will cost you out of pocket after using gift cards and trade in of other items. Usually used to justify a new purchase.

I really wanted to buy these new $200 headphones, but I didn't have the cash. So I used my Morrow Math and figured I could trade in my old pair of headphones and use two gift cards I had and then I would only have to pay $20.
