Ride the buffalo

Do a 5 year prison sentence. I heard this in county jail in Ohio in the 1970s. A career criminal on parole used it. It was a synonym for "Do a nickel". That's because the 5¢ piece from 1913 through 1938 was called the Indian Head Nickel and had an American bison aka buffalo on the reverse. To quote him, "I can't ride the fucking buffalo again."

Buffalo Game

A player can only drink with their non-dominant hand. If any other Buffalo players spot them drinking with their dominant hand, they call Buffalo on the player and that player must finish their drink as quickly as possible. The only way to get out of a buffalo is if you have a buffalo tattoo. In this case the person that called buffalo on you must drink.
