flip the mustard

there are many definitions for flipping the mustard; the most popular being to laugh so hard until you pee. Also, to flip the mustard can mean to grow angry and throw a fit, or conversely to have a startling revelation/epiphany which makes total sense of a previously bewildering topic. In addition, it can mean to literally flip the mustard container on your dinner table.

Did you see that? I think I just saw Jack flip the mustard!

I'm surprised we haven't seen John flip the mustard yet...

Man, David's being quite the @^$*(&# lately... he flips the mustard quite often.

i found a flip flop on the floor and slapped this guy in the face. I flip flopped him and said,

A person or idea that is the flip-side of the same coin as another person or idea is one that is fundamentally the same, but social influences have changed the ultimate goal.

The black panthers and the nazi party are essentially flip-sides of the same coin. One seeks white advancement, at the cost of suppressing all non-whites.


The other seeks advancement of all non-whites, at the cost of being indifferent to the plight of marginalised white folks.
