rotating villain

In American democracy, when the majority party has enough votes to pass populist legislation, party leaders designate a scapegoat who will refuse to vote with the party thereby killing the legislation. The opposition is otherwise inexplicable and typically comes from someone who is safe or not up for re-election. This allows for maximum diffusion of responsibility.

WTF??? Senator Lieberman now opposes the same health care compromise he himself suggested. Just when everyone thought Democrats had enough votes to get this done. Guess they made Lieberman the rotating villain...

Villa Park

A small city known as "The Hidden Jewel" where its half rich old people and other half new money with kids who have to drive beemers or mercedes. People think it has mexicans because of all of them that travel from orange for school, buts thats false. The city is more than 85% white people. Also one of the most conservative and wealthiest places in orange county. Full of mansions and big houses with huge lots. Much better than south county because you get a nice area close to a real cities like Anaheim, instead of everything being cookie cutter like RSM or Irvine. Only 20 minutes from the beach off the 55 freeway its easy to get to Villa Park, just no one knows its there because its "The Hidden Jewel" of Orange County.

Propaganda Village

1. An idealized town, hamlet or village built solely for propaganda purposes -- usually by a totalitarian or autocratic government.

The most famous example is Kijŏng-dong ("Peace Village"), a mostly uninhabited village located in North Korea just beyond the demilitarized zone. It was built in the 1950s to encourage South Koreans to defect to North Korea. (Fat chance.) Officially, Kijŏng-dong is a 200-family collective farming town with all the amenities. In reality, it is used to house DPRK soldiers who patrol the DMZ. The world's tallest flagpole stands nearby.

2. A Propaganda Village is a real-life version of a "Potemkin Village." According to myth, Russian ministry Grigory Potyomkin tried to impress Empress Catherine II in 1787 during her visit to Crimea by building fake peasant buildings (facades only) along her travel route. Historians now believe this was a rumor drummed up by Potyomkin's enemies. What he really did was get local peasants to spruce up their homes in advance of the monarch's visit.

anti-villain

The converse of an anti-hero (i.e., a protagonist who isn't purely good or heroic), an anti-villain is an antagonist who isn't purely evil nor entirely unsympathetic -- a character who doesn't seem to deserve being cast as the villain, perhaps cast arbitrarily as the villain because they are not the focus of the story but merely present a foil to the central figure, who may be an antihero protagonist. Cf. scapegoat.

Magneto was an anti-villain because, while the X-Men were the protagonists who fought to defeat him and prevailed in the end, we can still respect and appreciate him for his motives and principles, however ill-considered his ruthless methods.

Global Village

Global Village is seeing the world as a single community. The world is connected through the use of technology such as the internet. Examles include skype, facebook and Myspace, Twitter and also dating web sites such as RSVP.
This allows us to keep contact with people overseas quick and efficiently. IT also brings all social and political functions together quickly.
This can be studies as an elective for the HSC ( NSW, Australia ) and it suck.
