Snowbird

1. North American term for a person (typically elderly) that migrates to warmer regions (mostly in the Southern United States) from the North or Midwest during the cold Winter months.

2. An archaic term for a junkie addicted to white powdered drugs, mainly Cocaine and/or China White Heroin.
1. Man 1: "The snowbirds are starting to come early this year."
Man 2: "Yup, must be getting cold up North, already."

2. Silent film actress, Alma Rubens, who was a well known snowbird, ruined her career because of her addiction to Cocaine, Morphine, and Heroin. She was admitted to several sanatoriums to rehabilitate, but relapsed every time. After being arrested for trying to smuggle drugs from Mexico, she fell ill and died at the age of 33.

She wrote about her life, in full detail, in a memoir just before she died. They were published under the title, 'Alma Rubens, Silent Snowbird: Her Complete 1930 Memoir'

Snowbird Crud

When the people who live north of Florida come down during season for warmer weather, they bring different viruses with them and the people who live in Florida year round get sick
I thought I had Covid or the flu, but it was just the snowbird crud.

Slowbird

An old person that comes to Florida for the winter, but Lives as a shut in and doesn’t help the local economy.
Ernest is such a slowbird. He rents a big house in Palm Beach but can’t even walk out to the oool deck.

Sknowbird

An ego-driven expat or long term tourist who appoints themself a "local expert" or "know it all" because they live or have lived part time in a foreign country on an annual basis. They often think their experiential knowledge exceeds those selfless expats or immigrants that live in the same foreign country full-time. They also often "troll" on Social Media, giving advice or criticizing others who are trying to help visitors or new expats to the area. As soon as it warms up back in their "home" country, they retreat until the cold weather inspires their return the following year.
I have lived here for over two years now and today I had an arrogant Sknowbird give me some unsolicited advice about how to best live here in Mexico.
