To make something very uncool out of something that used to be cool.

"Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice is a bastardisation of a Queen's "Under Pressure".
"I'll Be Missing You" by Diddy and Faith Evans is a bastradisation of "Every Breathe You Take" by The police.

nil bastardum carborundum

Literally: Don't let the bastards get you down. ie Keep up your struggle against unfair treatment. ("Bastards" in the sense of people who treat you unfairly).

"Are you struggling to obtain your legal rights? Nil Bastardum Carborundum." meaning, literally "don't let the bastards get you down" or "don't give up in your struggle against unfair treatment."

It is a phrase of made-up words designed to sound like a traditional Latin (the language of ancient Rome) motto as used by many schools, universities and similar organizations, also by wealthy high status families or anyone who aspires to such a condition. This type of made-up pseudo- (ie fake) latin is sometimes called cod latinor "pig latin" Compare with J.K. Rowling's motto for Hogwarts school Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus The wrong use of the latin-sounding words is intentionally ironic and carries an implication of a lower class or self- educated person sticking it to "the man", who presumably could afford a classical education.

The Bastardization of Singapore Math

When foreign countries discreetly incorporate the best of the Singapore math curriculum, such as the bar or stack model method, learning experiences, and big ideas, into their own local curriculum, by adopting it as their stepchild, where cross-fertilization of local and foreign ideas occasionally results in an aha! by-product.

Thanks to the bastardization of Singapore math, the US Common Core Math had given birth to a few beautiful methodological and pedagogical offsprings in math education, much to the delight of local math educators who follow closely how their foreign counterparts are creatively adopting some of the problem-solving visualization strategies.

Bastarding

The act of searching out somebody who has just achieved something good and then instantly ruining it for them by doing something annoying to take the shine off of it. Usually a whole day activity as finding somebody who has just achieved success isn't easy.

If someone gets a good grade in an exam, throw a pint of milk in their face.

If a kid learns to ride a bike for the first time, run up and push it over.

You get the idea.
