"Post-Trap" denotes a broad spectrum of active artists who saw success following Trap Rap's initial wave of underground popularity from the early 2000s to the mid 2010s. By 2015, artists began to diversify the genre through forgoing its lyrical and sonic similarities with Gangsta Rap, choosing instead to prioritize melody, atmosphere, and experimentation.
