Many decades ago a party hostess would sell Tupperware products, such as cooking utensils and bowls to her friends at Tupperware parties. The women who were invited often dragged their husbands or boyfriends along. The men universally hated this. So now when women throw parties that they don’t want their men to come along they call them Tupperware parties.
