Designer Cripple

A Disabled Person who flaunts their "Supposed Wealth" and nearly always has the NEWEST powerchair, and in reality looks down their nose at anyone who has not got the NEWEST, LATEST WHEELCHAIR.

Designated Gay

When a group of friends (typically male) lack a gay friend they will instinctively choose a friend to be called the gay one and to make gay jokes about. This person can have little to no homosexual traits but still be the Designated Gay because of the vibe they emit.

Designated Fruity Friend (DFF)

A friend in the group who, while not necessarily being gay or any other LGBT+ subtype (although commonly a bisexual man) behaved in a way similar to the stereotypical idea of a gay friend. Most often referring to a male in a group of one or more female friends, and act as fashion consultant, chick flick movie buddy, late night emotional support, and most other stereotypical gay character traits commonly associated with homosexual men/heterosexual female friendships.

Similar to Designated Gay Best Friend or DGBF, but less specific to include any friend who fits gay stereotypes, regardless of their sexual orientation.

A lot of people ask me if he’s my boyfriend, but he’s my bestie, and he’s friends with all of my friends, so he’s the Designated Fruity Friend (DFF), and he’s just one of the girls!

random act of designess

A random act of designess, or RADness for short, is when you surf the web, find a good cause that needs some help with it’s identity, or promotional material (or anything else design related). Some appropriate design work that you believe will benefit the cause is done and together with an explanation, it is sent to them. A completely unsolicited way of helping a good cause just because you felt like it.

Hey, at the weekend I designed a funky new poster for that environmental group I came across on the web. I just really felt their cause was great but their promotional material wasn't. That's my first ever random act of designess (RADness), I wonder who I'll pick to do my next one for?!

sympathy-based design

Choosing a coworker's design decision because you feel bad form them or because their design choices have not been used in a long time.

Brian used a sympathy-based design approach when he implemented a feature using Eric's proposal because Eric has been getting beaten up about things lately in the office.
