okay, almost all of you are so WRONG. mmk, scene and emo are similar but also different. emo would be dpressed people who wear all black, skinny jeans, or black dickie type karpis and obviosly wear dark makeup. the fact that they cut, makes them wear a jacket too. SCENE is soo different. its way more rad, and i love it. im a scene girl so i can describe girls, but they have choppy hair, that they do so much to. i personaly wear bows and headbands or bobby pins. or ill leave it all down and teased. we never wear our hair up cause it looks crazy wierd. for clothes, there are so many colored skinny jeans. we wear pink and teal, blue.. black. and NO scene girls are never seen wearing all black. scene are hollister hotties (id say). we wear hollister and many layers. we look almost preppy, but it looks scene with skinny jeans, vans, teased hair, dark make up, colorfull plastic rings, piercings.. and blah blah blah. :p
scene girls: skinny jeans, bright clothes, band shirts, hollister hottie, bows, teased, vans, music lovers.

Sure, some scene girls backcomb their hair and wear bows and extensions and skinnies and dye their hair random colours, but its become the fashion for nowadays, just because you look like that doesn't mean you're scene, it means you're FASHIONABLE. And not all scene kids are obsessed with myspace and social networking sites, most of them DO have a life.
And scene guys mostly don't have hair covering their face or loads of piercings or wear girl's jeans. I actually struggle to find a scene guy wearing girls jeans.
Not all go to 593729402729 gigs a week either, or aspire to become photographers, journalists, hairdressers etc; most of my friends are scene and hardly any of them fit this definition. And no that doesn't make them posers cuz believe me I know what the hell a poser is and they're NOT.
So now I've cleared that all up it should be easier to understand what scene is for you all now :)

When two people are in a relationship but not officially dating. It could be because of unwillingness to conform to the Boyfriend/Girlfriend label.
Person 1: "So I just saw Selna Gomez and that dude from Twilight having lunch together"
Person 2: "Oh I didn't know they were dating?"
Person 1: "Well there's no press release, so I guess they're just scening."

1. The whitest kids on earth with an inexplicable and poorly informed fixation on hood culture for the sake of irony. Sometimes found living in depressed urban areas, but have yet to acquire the balls to meet their neighbors. Can be seen listening to Wu-Tang Clan in their hybrid cars with the windows rolled up and the doors locked.
2. Gentrification wearing barettes.
