Get the $aimug. Sam Altman just admitted he doesn't know how it (AI) works and Sabine just did a video on what about it (specifically) we don't understand....
Hym "And I bet YOU think I'm going to sit here claim to know how and why it (AI) works... You know.... Because I created it? But that's not how that works! To claim to understand how it works would be like claiming to understand how consciousness works. No one does that. The misalignment problem both is and isn't the fault of the person issuing the prompts. There should be a way of contextualizing what you want it to do by framing the prompts in a certain way. For example: 'Assuming you want the trains to run 24/7(👈This would be the framing device), how would you go about minimizing collisions (or whatever)?' So that's on the prompter end but at the same time, if you were to ask ME the same question, you wouldn't have to use the framing device because the fact that you want the trains to run as frequently as possible would be implicit. But that's because all questions are contextualized by my preexisting knowledge of, like, the purpose of train, right? Still seems like a noun comprehension problem... Needs a broader understanding of the purpose of nouns. Like, having a train that doesn't move defeats the entire purpose of train. But I don't know how to fix that... Yet."

Get the AI graphymug. Similar to the "appeal to authority fallacy," this occurs when an individual treats the output of an AI as absolute truth—rather than making their own argument—believing the AI to be a kind of deific superintelligence (perhaps more objective than any human authority). The information is accepted uncritically, without independent evaluation. This tendency is often observed among intellectually disengaged individuals online who are unable or unwilling to present a logically sound case of their own.
Tim: Presents a compelling case using his own reasoning.
Grug: “Oh yeah? Well, here’s what the AI said.” Posts erroneous AI output—likely without critically analyzing it.
Jon (onlooker): “There’s the appeal to AI fallacy again! Just because an AI made a claim, that doesn’t make it true—or even reasonable.”
