This happens due to multiple factors such as not being the one for each other, not having the same directions in life, having too many arguments that it breaks the both of you, changing so much that it shows they only loved the original person they fell for and not your entire living being, or simply having to let them go.

It's ironic how we planned an entire life for us, changed for us, learned each other's mannerisms, lived for each other, only to go back to friends."
