a derogatory term used when someone or some place (such as a café) affects a hip exterior but, in essence, is nothing but that exterior.

all these concert posters on the wall give off such a faux-hip feel.

A manufactured or artificial display of intellectual depth that lacks genuine understanding or substance. It plays on the idea of something being artificially created or fake, like "deepfake" technology.

Every 6 minutes in Game of Thrones features people faux plowing like its nobody's business.
That show is a neverending faux plow.
