whale in the bay

A Whale in the Bay is a covert term to advise of the unwelcomed presence of an undercover investigator amongst the ranks. The term has evolved as a means of communicating that there are others present, making it difficult to speak freely during a telephone conversation.

It was identified as a police term during an Australian royal commission into police corruption in the 1980s where corrupt officers would warn others of an internal investigation by mentioning that there was "a whale in the bay" - a normally noteable event on the Australian east coast.

The ULTIMATE expression. Can be used to describe any event or action or a way something is done. The use of "whale-style" makes any statement sound AMAZING.

"Come on Kathryn! Whale-style it!"

"I'm not just going to eat this sandwich, I'm gonna whale-style it!"

whale-stabber

In all fairness this term was coined from the adult swim TV show "The Oblongs" (at least this is where I first heard the word used).

It is used to describe an eskimo or somebody from alaska possibly in a derogatory way.

Guy 1: Hey guy 2 how's it going
Guy 2: Terrible. A bunch of fucking whale-stabbers moved in next door.
Guy 1: Well it beat having a bunch of spear chuckers for neighbors.
