A person who tries so much to the point where it seems as though they are trying too hard. Commonly done in video games.

A student (typically in high school) who puts excessive effort and emotional investment in schoolwork; they will usually downplay their achievements and have extremely high standards for what qualifies as a "good" grade.

"I only have a 95 in Honors Algebra II. I barely qualify for the accelerated math course."
