You can see how it benefits Tonya Harding to have friends that will intervene in disputes between her and other people, but it's hard to see how any of these folks she calls friends benefit any from the relationship, or being known as Tonya Harding's friends. Tonya Harding didn't seem like a physically fragile person on the outside, and she took advantage of the weaknesses, insecurities, and fears of others to keep a tough image going, but her heart was made of glass and couldn't take rejection (especially not by the opposite sex, as the person she hated most wasn't of her own sex) because it was soft. A person can change their exterior to where they look tougher than they were as a kid, but you can't change what is in a person's heart.
Tonya Harding seems too tough to be true because when you look at the whole person and get past the don't underestimate her physically bullshit (which most people don't underestimate her) , she really is. She lives like a coward, and always has.
