It is when you have a more modern word for “modernis(z)e”. Hence the word moderninize.

Also if you are stupid and don’t know the pronunciation of “modernized” you accidentally say this while having a smart conversation with someone even smarter. Like when looking at a painting in a museum.

This is like a cottage, but like, moderninized.

Example; nhl winter classic, using throwbacks uniforms

Hockey teams playing the winter classic would use retro modernism to create their uniform for the big game.
