A member of the Youth International Party. This party began as an antiwar movement during the Vietnam era, but then developed a sort of a libertarian socialist outlook, becoming focused during the 1970s and into the early 1980's on legalization of marijuana and other drugs and protesting against capitalism and corporations.

An almost archaic statement used by "Yippies" (The predecessors of Hippies, who were ultra-political and counter culture revolutionaries) to explain excitement, approval or irony.

Jerry Rubin: "Far out! I just scored a huge lid of grass, I'm gonna light a Doobie and use it to ignite this gasoline soaked American Flag! Yippie Dippie Do!"

Pre-Hippie-Burnout: "Groovy, but don't fart around that, the explosion will light my white dude fro, and totally harsh my mellow, maaaaan!"

yippeekyay

A slang term originally used by cattle herding cowboys to get their cattle to move faster. Elongated form of the the word yippee, which is used when a person is exuberantly happy about something. Has been used in numerous songs including Country Western, Hip Hop, and even Frank Sinatra used the term in a song. The term was made ultra-popular by actor Bruce Willis, who has used the term in each of his Die Hard film roles. In fact "yippeekyay mother fucker" has become his catch-phrase. Although we come across numerous different spellings of the word, we all understand it's meaning when we hear it.

Hans Gruber's reference to John McClane as a "cowboy" in Die Hard instigated McClane to use the phrase "yippeekyay motherfucker!" In other words "Yee- ha, let's get it on asshole."
