When a person rises to the top, by sheer arrogance, wicked privilege and total lack of self awareness. Especially when there was many others who could have far superiority knowledgeably and culturally represented.

Possibly suffering from narcissism, displays a lack of accountability, is highly manipulative and maintains a constant aura of victimhood. Ethical behavior is viewed as highly subjective and the view of self and grandeur are the most important outcome regardless of what it does to the rest of society.
Why did Hitler not give up the war towards the end of WW2, even though the closest to him also knew that Germany had lost. He just Rayguned it, I mean he was not going to admit that he had doomed his people and caused mayhem and destruction like the world had never seen, he thought "I'll just Raygun it to the end".
