Slang term for "accolades", "proper respect", or "just dues". Popularized in the 1980s by rappers who shortened the term "propers" which was in turn being used as an abbreviated version of "proper respect" at least by the 1960s. The increase in this term's usage during the late 1980s and early 1990s coincided with an increasing fascination with the mafia within rap circles. Both communities have traditionally placed great emphasis on the importance of earning and giving respect.

Promposal

A word referring to a proposal by either a male/femal to a prospective date for prom. "Promposals" can be as simplistic as passing a note or as elaborate as proposing with a flash mob with 10 friends in nothing but their underwear in front of the whole school.

Simplistic example of a Promposal: 'The Note/Text'

Bryan: "Hannah will you go to prom with me? Check 'yes' or 'no'

Hannah: "Can I have some time to think about this?"

Bryan: "Absolutely, take as much time as you need."

Elaborate example of a Promposal: 'The Post-it Car'

Bryan writes about one hundred different notes on 'Post-its' and places them on Hannah's car ensuring to have the words "Will you go to prom with me?" Somewhere on the vehicle where Hannah will notice it. The other notes are quotes, inside jokes, and any other thing that the proposer feels will help he/she obtain a date to the prom.
