I am old enough to remember when the word "Pump" meant to try and get information from someone. Recently, on a Perry Mason rerun the other day the word "Pump" was used in that context. Lt. Tragg asked Perry if he "pumped" the witness for information.

the act of farting, or releasing built up stomach gasses through your anus. Pumping is sometimes used as a more savory term for the act because sensitive parents have an issue with the word 'fart', and deem 'pump' as less disgusting and more acceptable.
