Where a person holds there index and middle fingers up spread apart to symbolize peace. A common sign of the 1960's hippie generation and of theneohippie movement. To the world war II generation it meant victory but to hippies and neohippies peace is victory.Known to make police and conservatives angry.

When that guy called me a fucking hippie I just make the peace sign and walked away.

World peace was achieved, pretty much, under pax britannica in the nineteenth century. However, world peace was only achieved because every government in the world was


•Part of the british empire

• Vichy Government acting on behalf of London (China, most of africa not under the empire and parts of europe)

•Too afraid of Britains' reaction to actually start a war, fearing they would be replaced by a vichy government or raided by the rest of the empire.

In the last 2000 years, there have been 60 years of world peace, half under pax britannica.

It is commonly misunderstood for the time inbetween wars, getting along, or any other peachy definition you can think of. Peace is a combination of love, harmony with all living beings, care, sharing, and freedom. If we all look hard enough we can find peace within ourselves, no matter how ruthless you are. If we all examine ourselves we would be able to make the world a trully peaceful place. Remember that the next time an under privladged person asks you for some spare change. Spread peace. Its something we all need to do.

Peace lives within all beings, if you look hard enough you will see it.
