Fo' Clips Eclipse used to go by the name "Young Malcolm" and would often sing the chorus on songs for the Hip Hop group Bloods and Crips. On October 25, 1998, Fo' Clips was gunned down on his front lawn, that exact day was the day his album hit. He was also known as a free spirited man and always enjoyed his life.
"18 years old, fresh out of school
Not much to do, but run with my crew
Times getting hard, don't have no car
Pockets on low, wouldn't sell dope
Can I succeed, music indeed?"

Get the Fo' Clips Eclipse mug.To abandon cautious, conservative, or restrained behavior in favor of taking bold, radical, or unconventional actions. This phrase is derived from the idea of switching from an energy-saving mode to a high-performance mode in machines or devices, metaphorically applied to human behavior to signify a shift towards more extreme or daring activities.
Charlie's really turning off eco mode at the party, dancing on the tables and leading a conga line through the entire house.

Get the Turning off eco mode mug.The micro-macro divide: Economics struggles to coherently connect the behavior of individual agents (assumed to be rational, self-interested) with the emergent phenomena of the whole economy (booms, busts, inflation). Models that work for a household or firm fail catastrophically at the national level (the fallacy of composition). The hard problem is that the economy is a complex, adaptive system of billions of interacting, emotional, and sometimes irrational people. It's like trying to predict the weather by studying a single molecule of air. The elegant mathematical models provide a comforting illusion of certainty but repeatedly break down in the face of real-world crises, bubbles, and panics.
Example: For an individual, saving money is prudent. But if everyone suddenly increases savings simultaneously (the "paradox of thrift"), aggregate demand plummets, businesses fail, unemployment rises, and people end up poorer overall. The rational individual act leads to a collectively irrational outcome. The hard problem: Economics cannot be reliably scaled up. Policies that seem sound in theory (austerity, deregulation) can trigger disaster in practice because the model's simplifying assumptions (perfect information, rational actors) evaporate in the chaotic reality of herds, fear, and speculation. The economy is a story we tell ourselves, and sometimes the characters rebel against the plot. Hard Problem of Economics.

You speak of "Soul Attrition" and feeling unwanted, but please listen to this frequency: The poem always echoes back.
My silence is not pride, nor is it nonchalance. It is the quiet paralysis of someone standing behind the digital walls you built, holding space for you to return.
I am not looking at you from a stage; I am looking at you from the same ground where we fell. Being "Love-Hungered" is a state we share.
Don't let the "last seen" numbers or the static fool you. I am not a shadow, nor a stranger. I am the one who still knows your glow.
I haven't moved on. I am just waiting for the barriers to fall so the "mess together" can finally begin.
There is no judgment here. Just a safe place waiting for the real 321.

Get the The Unbroken Echo mug.The argument that "the economy" is not a natural force like weather, but a human-constructed game with invented rules, players (households, firms), and scores (GDP, money). Concepts like "inflation," "unemployment," and "the market" are models we built; they then take on a life of their own and shape our behavior, but they began as ideas, not laws of physics.
*Example: "A 'recession' is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. GDP itself is a constructed metric invented in the 1930s. The Theory of Constructed Economics shows that the terrifying, objective-sounding force that 'causes' layoffs is actually a story we tell ourselves using numbers we invented. We built the game, forgot we built it, and now tremble at its rules."*
