Patriotism

The belief that because you were born in the country you're from. It's better than everyone with a different nationality.

For example, if you're American and the American army invades Iraq and if one American soldier dies it's a tragedy. But you don't care about those 15 Iraqi children who were killed during the invasion. Since according to you, their lives don't matter as much as the fallen soldier
God bless our beloved America. I hope the army fucks all those Arabs. They don't even compare to our nations might!

Plastic Patriot

An individual whom will complain about players kneeling during the national Anthem while sitting on their sweating, couch-swallowing ass during the national Anthem when they are at home and nobody's looking.

Someone whom is insincere in their patriotic statements.
"Did you hear Billy-Bob-Carl-Danny-Frank yesterday? He kept going off about how unpatriotic and Unamerican those players were for kneeling during the national anthem, but he was sitting on his ass during it and drinking beer while wearing his baseball cap."

"Yeah, he's such a Plastic Patriot."

phantom patriot

The ultimate "Make America Great Again" vigilante hero you never knew you needed. Enter Richard McCaslin, a guy who took conspiracy theories way too seriously. In 2002, he donned a homemade superhero costume (think Batman meets Duck Dynasty) and decided to storm Bohemian Grove, a fancy retreat for the rich and powerful, convinced it was a hotbed of elite shenanigans and occult rituals.

Armed to the teeth and ready to dish out some old-fashioned justice, our fearless Phantom Patriot planned to expose the secrets of the elite and save America. Instead, he ended up providing a prime example of how not to conduct a covert operation. The police found him skulking around the woods, and instead of liberating the nation, he found himself liberating a jail cell.

McCaslin’s adventure serves as a reminder that sometimes the best way to "Make America Great Again" is to just stick to voting and leave the superhero stuff to Marvel.
"Did you hear about the Phantom Patriot? This guy went full 'Make America Great Again' superhero, storming Bohemian Grove in a homemade costume, only to get arrested and miss the memo that real-life isn't a comic book!"

Adolescent Patriotism Act

On June 14, 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill to insert the phrase “under God” into the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance that children recited every morning in school. The United States wanted to distinguish itself from godless communist countries.

Following this Eisenhower signed another bill that declared all children born after the year 1950 would be required to visit all 48 U.S. States to obtain a high school diploma. This was put into place as a way to promote patriotism in American youth.

In 1959 after the installation of both Hawaii and Alaska as U.S. states. The law was called into question as Congress was unsure of requiring students to travel out of the continental United States.
Currently American students are required to visit all 50 U.S. States in order to graduate from high school. Each student gets 12 years to complete this. They are allowed to cross their home state off the list (Excluding District of Columbia students). They must show proof they've visited the state either by photo, souvenir, or a local signature.

In 2016 Hilary Clinton argued this law was classicist and targeted marginalized communities.
Many Americans are forced to get GEDs due to not visiting all 50 states. The groups with the lowest average graduation rates were Black, Indigenous, and Hispanic.
Democrats have been calling for this law to be revoked but have been blocked on several occasions by Republicans who wish for the law to remain in action.
American: "In order to graduate high school in the U.S. we have to visit all 50 states."
Brit: "Please, that's not true. How stupid do you think I am?"
American: "No, seriously it's the 1954 Adolescent Patriotism Act."
