dotfile

A file (or folder) that is prefixed with a period. Normally used to denote hidden files for configuration or system dependencies. Most commonly found on Unix/Linux devices.

By default, dotfiles aren't shown, you have to manually enable them in the context menu.

Dofflemeyer

To oversimplify the nomenclature or description of a part to the point where it could be interchangeably used with over 100 different parts or common items. The modern equivalent of using "whatchamacallit" when referring to component that require a more technical description in order to be identified in the future. Particularly unsavory practice around engineering circles.

They called that main landing gear trunnion support fitting a "tube". That part has been Dofflemeyered!
