that’s metal 

When something is so profoundly hardcore that it’s metal. Let’s say someone runs naked down their school hallway last day of school, thats bad ass. Now let’s say someone runs naked down their school hallway wearing a picture of their principles face, holding torches, and blasting music over the intercoms. All while (and interrupting) the principles sentimental goodbye to the school on the last day. Thats fucking metal. And there’s the different between something metal and bad-ass. Someone can be metal, do something metal, say something metal and more. In this context, metal may be a noun, verb, adjective, metaphor, simile, etc. Metal is all, few, one and none. It’s for everyone and nobody and some people. It’s fucking metal. It’s beyond our fucked world and definition made into something understandable. If your metal, you get metal. If your not, wish you could be.

That’s a mean cup of water — A mytho-legendary quote attributed to The Man in Black himself Johnny Cash when he performed live at San Quentin Prison.

Many people were against his performance in prisons especially prison guard unions who thought that a Johnny Cash prison performances would quite probably incite riots.

What actually happened was that Cash said: “If there are any guards still talking to me could you bring me a cup of water”.

After he finished drinking it, Cash destroyed and crushed the tin cup in which his water had been provided. Then he sang a song about the uselessness of San Quentin Prison and theories of rehabilitation called: San Quentin.

His Johnny Cash Live at San Quentin Album was certified gold on August 12th 1969 and in spite of the documented evidence to the contrary, the legend of the “ That’s a mean cup of water” quote is more powerful than what actually occurred.

But that’s the thing about a good and well told mytho-legendary story: it’s never what actually happened; it’s what SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!!

That's so meta 

Meta means of or relating to itself. Invoking the phrase will confer a measure of humility unto simplistic understandings of life which from time to time take the form of egoistic or at-a-distance notions about one or another's relation to the universe. This is accomplished by applying the definiton of the phrase/idea "That's so meta" which infers a measure of continuity between individual consciousness or group consciousness and all else considered to lie beyond or outside or apart from the illusory boundary of one's entity and/or awareness, all else being defined as: "the rest of the universe". Governing the relation of parts to the whole.

The humans living on earth keep a list of endangered species, remaining conveniently and blissfully unaware to their own threatened status, a status which is substantiated by facts of life. More specifically, by virtue of the reality of their complete reliance on a single planet (Earth) for their continued survival as a species. That's so meta.
