A hero is a dude who THINKS he's the coolest guy/girl going, but really is not, however it is funny to let said hero believe he is cool, so calling him a hero is the funny thing to do.

Someone who tries really hard at certain activities (ie: sports, school etc...) in order to show everybody else around him how good he is, when in reality, he is only mediocre.

Teacher: Guys, Stop talking please.
Hero: GUYS! JUST BE QUIET
Everyone else: Easy, Hero.

Manager: Can I have those reports for Tuesday
Hero: They're already on your desk, sir.
Everyone else: Easy, Hero.

Someone who takes extreme risks in an attempt to gain massive fame while putting the rest of the team in great jeopardy.

Andy was a hero when he thought he could beat down the other team's flag carrier and got killed first. We lost 3 to 2. We don't have time for heroes.
